UM Transportation Research Institute - ENERGY STAR Lighting
Project
Estimated Project Cost: $140,000
Project Description
The ENERGY STAR lighting project involved detailed
audit and analysis, coordination, design, bid process, and construction management
for a lighting upgrade project at the Transportation Research building at
the University of Michigan. Fluorescent lamps and ballasts were upgraded to
more energy efficient systems. Lighting was redesigned in areas containing
high-output power groove fixtures, which were replaced by T8/electronic fluorescent
systems. This project improved illumination levels and overall quality of
light while greatly reducing energy consumption, resulting in annual energy
cost savings of $50,000.
Scope of Work
- Audit and review of the operation of existing lighting systems.
- Developed Energy Conservation Measures (ECM's) for energy projects that
have an acceptable payback period.
Engineering
Services
- Coordinated audit of lighting systems.
- Recommendations for lighting upgrades.
- Estimated annual energy savings.
- Estimated total construction cost.
- Prepared detailed summary reports.
