Process Results
is an Energy Star partner, bringing energy conservation measures and savings
to institutions like the University of Michigan, which expects to save over
$5.7
million per year by 2003. By implementing changes to 120 buildings on campus, the University saves energy in lighting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
ENERGY STAR
FORECAST IT
Process Results has developed a 165-point checklist to
implement the five phases of Energy Star:
- Green Lights (lighting retrofit):
Replacing existing inefficient lighting with new
energy efficient lighting.
- Building Tune-Up:
Ensuring that existing systems are operating
correctly.
- HVAC Load Reduction:
Inspecting the building’s envelope (windows,
roof, entryways, etc.).
- HVAC Distribution System:
Optimizing or replacing the fan, pumping and
control systems.
- HVAC Plant:
Optimizing or replacing chillers and boilers,
reducing outdoor air intake etc.
A unique aspect of the University of Michigan’s Energy Star Program
is Forecast IT, a computer application developed jointly with Process Results,
which enables the customer to forecast the energy load on a weekly basis
in half-hour increments. This allows the customer to purchase supplemental
power at optimum rates, and avoids over– or under– ordering
of power and related premiums. Forecast IT is web-enabled and utilizes data
from the National Weather Service in its complex calculations.
